Nursery is DONE!!!

I am so excited to finally share baby Ella's nursery!  It's been a long time comin', that's for sure.
This is the confetti wall!  I applied 144 gold polka dots in a random order to look like falling confetti, and it's one of my favorite parts of the room.  I also spray painted the circle mirrors gold to match!
Then, we got an antique rocking chair from Cody's parents.  I reupholstered the seat with a fabric from Caitlin Wilson fabrics.  What you can't see is it has this beautiful gold thread running through it so it shines when the light hits it!
Cody painted the little pink side table which was originally orange.  $20 at Home Goods!  He also hand-painted the inside gold for a peek-a-boo effect!  I got the gold leather Moroccan ottoman on overstock.com
I put gold leaf on the back of a plain white book shelf...which was a B---ch to do!  Ugh!!!  But I love it.
And who could forget the piece de resistance...the pinkish/coral dresser!!
I also spray painted the ceiling fan to be gold and white.  Before, it was really childish with tacky Easter egg colors.  Here is it now:
I got my talented Aunt Betty to make the crib bedding!  I am so pleased with it!  And isn't the crib fab???  A hand-me-down from our realtor and friend!
Lastly, a very special person is watching over this room and this little girl via this teddy bear:
My Aunts had my grandmother's old mink coat made into this teddy bear.  We named it Nonnie in her honor.

That's it!  Phew!  Now we just need the baby!

Nursery Update: Girliest. Dresser. Ever.

Look at this beauty!

 And remember how she started:

I know, right??  Cody did such an amazing job painting it.  He just primed it with 2 coats of Valspar Bonding Primer, then two coats of the coral/pink paint.  Both are latex.  We didn't even sand it!  I also spray painted the drawer pulls gold.

Here was the inspiration pic from Pinterest:

Ours turned out much more bubble gum pink than I had planned, but I still love it.  And quite possibly my favorite part of this dresser are the two small drawers.
They already have these built-in dividers, because it was an antique bureau made for holding silverware.  They are lined in velvet!  Ella will have a super fancy spot for her tiny little socks!!
So, that's all for now.  I have a few more projects I'm working on in the nursery...so more updates to come.
Thanks for checking in!

DIY Door Initial

I am soo excited about this project because it is suuuper easy and turned out great!

I got the big wood letter at Hobby Lobby for $12 bucks.

I bought the moss at Hobby Lobby for $10.  It comes on a roll or in loose pieces in a bag.  I bought the roll which makes it really easy.
Lay down the letter upside down on the sheet of moss, and cut with a razor blade around it, leaving about an inch extra all around.
I lifted the letter off the moss, and sprayed the front with spray mount glue.
put it back down and press hard.  Then, I cut around the edges to start wrapping it around the back and gluing it with my glue gun.

Here is a picture of it wrapped all the way around the back.  And that's it!  I added a strip of burlap I cut to hang it on a wreath hanger, and voila!

Nursery Sneak Peek

We don't have much done on the nursery.  But at least we now know that this kiddo is a GIRL!!!!!  AAAAAHHH!  (sorry, I'm just a little excited about that.)

The previous owners had painted the room we're making the nursery a baby pink color.  I thought even if we had a girl, I would repaint it.  Well, now I've decided to take it as a challenge, and decorate around the color.

So far, my friends' generosity has been through the roof!  Coworker Nicole Brady has given me some good maternity clothes for work, THANKS NICOLE!!  My great friend Shari gave us a bassinet and a stroller/carseat!  THANKS RIZZA!! And my realtor, Anna, gave us her white sleigh bed crib.  Exactly what I was looking for!  THANKS ANNA!!

Then, the other day, great friend and amazing nursery decor helper Shari found this beauty on craigslist.
I snatched it up so fast!  200 bucks for a vintage buffet from the 1950's??  Yes, please.
WARNING TO WOOD LOVERS: don't read the next sentence.
I'm painting it.

I know, I know.  It's walnut, and it's beautiful, and blah blah.  My parents think I'm crazy, but that's okay.  Here's what I want to do with it, thanks to Pinterest:

I also ordered those gold wall decal dots to put on her dresser wall!!! So her color scheme is coral, light pink, gold, white, and a splash of navy blue.  I'm so excited, I just wanna dive in!

Stay tuned!
